Hi, knowitall!

To remove contact adhesive from rubber you can use acetone or 'Goof-Off'.

Sorry your patches did not hold.

Try again and wipe down first with rubbing alcohol, let dry, and rough-up both sides with coarse sand paper.

Wipe down again with rubbing alcohol, let dry, and use ducco cement.

It is a one part adhesive that works well on rubber.

If you are, in fact, gluing vinyl, 3M has a variety of specialized products for this application.

Hope this helps!

Try whiping it down with a 70% alcohol solution to break it up, then scrape it lightly with a razor blad. Alot of solvents will break down the rubber unfortunately. It will be tedious but it will work.
Maybe Goo Gone would work.

Some sort off solvent should dissolve it.
