I am making a halloween costume. what glue or adhesive should i use when gluing rubber to plastic?

Krazzy glueI am making a halloween costume. what glue or adhesive should i use when gluing rubber to plastic?
Super glue or Crazy glue would probably work best.
They have this glue at like Home Depot that is in a spray can It's great !
Gorilla glue is the bomb. it sticks to almost anything, including rubber and plastic! i use it all of the time. just make sure that you use a damp rag to dampen the surfaces and then clamp them together for 4 hours. It will certainly make things easier!
glue gun???
I'd use good ol' rubber cement, but, hey, I'm kinda old fashioned.

It should hold elf ears okay and you may even be able to peel them off the crown for reuse some other time.

Most of the other answers seem pretty permanent...
Your going to have to find some gkue that doesn't rely on pores. That's all I can say.

Is it possible to vulcanize two pieces of rubber together without the aid of adhesive?

vulcanizing doesn't use glue of sorts but does use a cleaner to make sure you don't have air pockets when finished. vulcanizing is heating rubber to soft consistency and melting it together with another piece of rubber, usually under pressure so when you heat the rubber make sure you have a clamp that will cover the joint and create a good seam.Is it possible to vulcanize two pieces of rubber together without the aid of adhesive?
yes use an ultrasonic sealer or use heat

heat the sides to be stuck together apply pressure as it softens

a propane torch can be used

or a heat sealer on a food saverIs it possible to vulcanize two pieces of rubber together without the aid of adhesive?
yes... use your wife's iron... stick the ends on the iron... when they get soft... stick them together
Yes there is,,Use heat.

  • Is it possible to vulcanize two pieces of rubber together without the aid of adhesive?

You need something to eat into the rubber under heat between the items to be vulcanised. Otherwise you just melt away the rubber under the heating element and get no adhesion between the 2.

What sort of adhesive will hold the rubber feet onto the back of my computer?

There are little wells where the rubber feet were, but silicon didn't hold them at all.

The glue that remains from the factory is still sticky; reminiscent of rubber cement (although I should think rubber cement will not be at all strong enough).

The feet came off from a tight fitting carry case, otherwise they would probably still be on.

Thanks! What sort of adhesive will hold the rubber feet onto the back of my computer?

If you have a Tap Plastics around, they sell those little rubber feet (bumpon's) with a peel and stick already on them, I think they are 3 or 4 cents apiece.
Liquid nails might do it if you get the kind that is all purpose. It will stick to anything. Just buy a tube of it at the hardware store and cut the tube open with a knife. Don't buy one of those stupid squeeze guns.

Gorilla Glue, it's urethane.I have a popup camper. The rubber seal around the top needs to be reattached. What's the best adhesive to use?
You could use a silcone based caulk/adveshive, but exterior ';Liquid Nails'; (any decent brand name) will do and last probably as long as the camper will, plus if you have to do any paint touch up the LN allows that.

Rev. StevenI have a popup camper. The rubber seal around the top needs to be reattached. What's the best adhesive to use?
silicon will work; or really good super glue. But your local parts store should have a specialized glue that will hold longer. But whatever you use, be sure and clean the seal area very good with rubbing alcohol before applying any adheasive.
3M weatherstrip adhesive is made just for that particulaer application. it's in a black tube at your local auto parts store. a thin coat on the mounting surface and a thin coat on the rubber---worth the extra few pennies
    ELMERS GLUE OR BOND-OOOOOOOOO
How about 3M Weatherstrip adhesive. Last for years and works perfectly. Liquid Nails? NO WAY! Elmer' Glue? Nope!

Should be at your local auto parts store!
Use rubber cement. Put a thin coat on the seal and on the mating surface on the camper top. Let it dry! Once dry (about 15 minutes), carefully press the seal back in place.

Don't use Elmer's Glue as it won't stick! The silicone compounds might work but take a long time to cure. Liquid Nails is for mounting panelling or drywall and dries fairly hard and may damage the rubber.

  • I have rubber valve cover gaskets it says to use a little adhesive to hold gasket to cover.what type do i use?

The rubber gasket was designed to seal without the use of sealants. The reason that they're telling you to use a few dots of adhesive is to hold it still while you place it and bolt it down.Try this first. Insert the bolts through the cover and gasket. If the bolts fit tight into the gasket holes, then that's all you need to hold it in place while you snug them up then tighten them. If that don't do it then just go back to plan A. put a few small dots of adhesive on the cover and fit the gasket. Let it set for a little while so it will stick when you turn it upright for installation.I have rubber valve cover gaskets it says to use a little adhesive to hold gasket to cover.what type do i use?

Permatex RTV Black, that stuff is flexible, yet strong as cement. I used it to seal an oil pan (that I then had to remove the next day, Doh!), and I totally F*ed up the oil pan prying it off because the RTV had such a hold on it! I even used a razor blade to slice as much of it as possible and lessen it's grip
You buy it at the car parts store. It's something made for that.Rubber gasket adhevsive.Just ask them.I'm a girl and I bought some and used it.It was blue glue.
    gasket adhesive
You can use a gasket adhesive. It's like purple in color. Or you can use contact cement. It's just so the gasket stays in place until you tighten the bolts. The rubber gasket seals it.
    dowcorning
Use the high temp instant gasket. Use more than just a little, put a very thin line of it over the whole head and then put the gasket and valve cover on, you don't want LEAKS!

Differences between Acrylic and rubber-based adhesives?

At my place of work, we use white velcro with a rubber-based adhesive on the back. We want to carry black velcro with this same adhesive, but the Black velcro only comes from our supplier in an acrylic-based adhesive.

Would there be any noticeable differences between the two?

We use the adhesive side on leather and plastic for the most part.Differences between Acrylic and rubber-based adhesives?
you would need to test the adhesive, on the products that you will apply them to. acrylic is a resin and water based adhesive ...it might become slimy and slide on plastics....

contact 3m.. their techs have done research on this subject....Differences between Acrylic and rubber-based adhesives?
I expect that the rubber based adhesive might bond better to plastics while the acrylic will be better on leather, but that is just a guess.

I guess you don't know that ';plastic'; could mean kevlar, styrofoam or saran wrap and that the properties are totally different between them?

I expect that acrylic will have better oxidation / weathering / aging / temperature discoloration resistance, too. And should remain more flexible at low temperatures.

The rubber based adhesive (hot melt?) may have better creep resistance. And should be lower cost.

So. you need to test them for creep, especially at your product's upper temperature limit.

And you need to check adhesion on the ';plastics'; you bond to. Be sure to use the same cleaning (or non-cleaning) methods you use in the factory since surface clenliness will influence results.

Both creep and adhesion can be checked by putting a weight on the one side of the velcro and seeing if there is a huge difference in which adhesive can carry:

    1. more weight (for adhesive strength)

    2. a weight for longer time (for creep at elevated temperature)

You can use 10%, 50% or 90% of the weight that the bond fails at in 1 for the load on 2. I'd use the same weight for both the acrylic and the rubber loads in 2 and 50% of the rubber's failure load (if thats pretty aggressive).

If the failure load is way more than what forces you know the strap must handle --- {Q: you and I are in the woods and suddenly a grizzly bear starts chasing us. How fast do I have to run to get away from the bear? A: just a bit faster than you ;p } since I expect the velcro will be the weakest link all the adhesive has to do is be stronger by a safe margin and not creep again when loaded with a litle bit extra. What's a safe margin? It all depends. for real world (rather than green house applications) I'd use a factor of 3x. But it could be as low as 1.5X or as high as 10X depending on the consequences of failure.

    HTH

BTW, acrylic pressure sensitive IS rubber (probably - - unless its reactive) but you meant a synthetic or natural hydrocarbon rubber I assume. doesn't matter.

    %26lt;edit%26gt;

Sophie is correct a good tech service call should answer some of your questions. Your vendor may need to call his/her adhesive vendors but just ask for the creep resistance of each adhesive, adhesion to leather (this isn't straighforward since most leather is coated) and adhesion to the ';plastics'; you bond to. Peel adhesion is better than shear adhesion, but getting both would be best.

    Hi

A skill saw can be set to just nearly touches the metal. Or a depth router can make small pieces too.
if your putting spray in liner in it the bed has to be scuffed anyway. scratch away. Spray in bedliners don't come out without a chisel, brand new paint is not gonna matter.

You don't have to do any painting, the bed liner essentially is the paint.

What is the material to be stuck together?

Two pack epoxy resin will stick most things together as long as both surfaces are clean, grease free and have no loose particles on them. Rust or dust, that sort of thing. Epoxy will also stick different materials together. Rubber to metal, or metal to glass. If you are gluing wood, then just go for some wood glue such as PVA. If it is structural, you could also add screws, nails or rivets.

My Lotus Elise chassis was extruded aluminium which was then glued and riveted. The rivets were there only to add extra strength in the event of an accident.

This can be purchased at a harware store for about 2-3 bucks. The bottle says it contains petroleum distillate and need very little amount to do the job and not to saturate area as it will losen the glue bond between some carpets and backing . I have used it to remove stickers of appliances and glass with great success.
A tiny bit of Zippo lighter fluid on a paper towel will take it right off. You could also use a product called goo-gone, but I suspect you probably have a tin of lighter fluid laying around the house somewhere. Look way in the back on top of the fridge.
Be very careful so you don't damage the weather stripping. Try hot soapy water or a little vinegar. Try to stay away from any solvents or alcohol as they will degrade the rubber. Hope this helps.

agua oxinadaHow do i remove adhesive from my rubber sole shoe?
You don't say what kind of adhesive so I am going to make an asumption that it's the sticky gel type. Most adhesives will return to a more liquid state with heat so there are two things you can try.

    1) Hold the shoe under a stream of HOT running water for a few mintues then take a rough cloth (like an old wash rag) and wipe in one direction to remove the adhesive. Or, if that doesn't work....

    2) Place a double layer of paper towels over the adhesive on the shoe. Over that, place a thin towel or old t-shirt. Then take an iron (set on the highest level) and run the iron over the area several times. This should make the adhesive liquid enough that it is absorbed in the paper towels and therefore removed from the shoe. Check the paper towels often and replace as needed until all the adhesive is removed.

    Hope that helps!
